Internship opportunities at the Detroit Historical Society are available across various departments, including exhibitions, collections, education, programs, development, marketing, and public relations. Both undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to work with their university or college faculty to arrange for-credit internships, providing valuable hands-on experience while collaborating with Society staff.

The Detroit Historical Society offers volunteers a unique opportunity to connect with the city’s rich history by helping bring it to life. Volunteers play a vital role by serving as gallery guides, supporting special events, conducting historical research, and assisting with administrative tasks. Opportunities are available year-round, including for ongoing, temporary, and youth roles, both at the museums and throughout Metro Detroit.
