Join us for a powerful journey through history with the Black Historic Sites Committee as we travel to Marshall and Battle Creek to honor the legacy of Sojourner Truth and Michigan’s role in the fight for freedom. In Marshall, we’ll tour the charming town square, visit the Marshall Historical Museum, stop at the Governor’s Mansion Museum, and observe the Crosswhite Historical Marker—commemorating a pivotal Underground Railroad story.
In nearby Battle Creek, we’ll visit the inspiring Sojourner Truth Monument, walk in her footsteps, view the vibrant mural, pay our respects at her gravesite, and explore the Battle Creek Regional History Museum and Underground Railroad Monument. Don’t miss this meaningful day of history, reflection, and discovery.
