Step inside a landmark of modern architecture at the Gregor S. and Elizabeth B. Affleck House, the first Frank Lloyd Wright-designed residence built in the Detroit metropolitan area. Designed in Wright’s Usonian style, the home reflects his vision for creating beautiful, thoughtfully designed spaces that could be accessible to the average American family. Carefully planned to complement its natural surroundings, the Affleck House remains one of the finest examples of Wright’s later work.
The Affleck House was donated to Lawrence Technological University in 1978 and is owned and maintained by the university today. Ongoing restoration efforts have helped preserve the home while allowing Lawrence Tech’s College of Architecture and Design to use it as an educational resource for future generations of designers.
Parking: Parking at Affleck House is very limited. A small number of spaces are available on Bloomfield Woods near the house, with additional parallel parking on Scenic Oaks Dr. N. Parking is not permitted on other neighborhood streets. Carpooling is strongly encouraged.
Accessibility: Because of the house’s historic design and intimate scale, some rooms and passageways are quite narrow. The Affleck House is not wheelchair accessible.
