See one of Detroit’s most iconic architectural landmarks with a behind-the-scenes tour of the Guardian Building. Completed in 1929, this National Historic Landmark is a masterpiece of Art Deco design and a striking symbol of Detroit’s rise during the early 20th-century boom. Known as the “Cathedral of Finance,” the building showcases bold geometry, intricate tilework, and a blend of Native American, Aztec, and Arts & Crafts influences. On this guided tour, you’ll explore the building’s grand lobby, original bank vaults, and rarely seen details while uncovering the stories of the architects, artisans, and financiers behind its construction. As part of this special experience, guests will also visit the Wayne County History Project, a Detroit Historical Society exhibit on display in the building that highlights key moments and people from the county’s past. It’s a rich journey through architecture, art, and history—all under one iconic roof.
