Ashtray

One small souvenir ashtray that commemorates the opening of the St. Lawrence Seaway in 1959. The round ashtray is made of thin glazed white china. It has rounded sides and a slightly-upturned rim with a scalloped edge that is decorated with a narrow gold-colored stripe. The outer top surface of the rim has a faint, rope-like pattern. Also, four evenly-spaced color images of crossed American and Canadian flags are also shown along the rim. At the center of the ashtray, a multi-color drawing of the yacht, BRITTANIA, is shown along with a map of the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence River. The underside is stamped with a small crown logo and green text that reads "Alfred Meakin, England,"
