Badge, Insignia

One jacket badge for the "Spirit of Detroit Association Commodores Club." The decorative, shield-shaped badge shows a hydroplane and the Belle Isle Bridge at the center. The images are made of fine thread and gold braid on a red, blue, and black velvet background. Fine gold braid is used for the text and is also used to form a decorative border. Additional text at the bottom of the badge reads "Thunderboat Championship, 1988." The badge has a layer of cardboard at the center with a black fabric backing. The back includes three brass pins with spring clips for attachment to a blazer or jacket. A separate small printed paper card gives handling instructions.
