Bank, Toy
One souvenir bank from the "Colonial Department Store" in downtown Detroit. The pocket-size, puck-shaped bank is made of thin stamped steel back with rounded edges. The top panel has a glossy paper covering which is printed with a blue/white drawing that depicts a front corner view of the decorative six-story store building that was located at 25 State Street. White printed text on a dark blue background reads "Colonial Department Store - Detroit's Leading Credit Store, 25 State Street." The bottom panel of the bank has a matching paper covering which has white printed text on a blue background that reads "Colonial Department Store, 25 State Street," and "10¢ A Day Buys A New Fully Guaranteed Fur Coat," as well as "No Extra Charge for Credit; Two Years Free Cold Storage." The outer edges of both the top and bottom panels are printed with small white text that reads "Parisian Novelty Co., Chicago, Pat. 2-23-1926." The side of the bank is made of a piece of thin chrome-plated steel that has a quarter-size cutout slot. The opposite side has two small rectangular cutouts for insertion of a small tool that would unlock the bank.
