One souvenir bank from the "Detroit Savings Bank." The pocket-size, puck-shaped bank is made of thin stamped steel with rounded edges. The top panel has a glossy paper covering which is printed with a brown/yellow drawing that depicts the company's logo--the head of a Native American man in profile. Pale yellow and brown text on contrasting brown and pale yellow backgrounds reads "The Detroit Savings Bank - Established 1849" and "Oldest Bank in Michigan.." The bottom panel of the bank has a matching paper covering with pale yellow and brown printed text that reads "The Detroit Savings Bank - Established 1849," and "This Ten Cent Bank Will Be Opened As Often As You Bring It In. It holds about Five Dollars. Save ten cents a day. Deposit It monthly in one of our Savings Accounts at interest. Deposits of $1.00 Or More Received at The Detroit Savings Bank Main Office or Any of Its Branches." The outer edge of the top panel is printed with small white text that reads "Parisian Novelty Co., Chicago, Pat. 2-23-1926." The outer edge of the bottom panel is printed with small pale yellow text that reads "Pat. 5-29-1917, Parisian Novelty Co,, Chicago." The side of the bank is made of a piece of thin chrome-plated steel that has a dime-size cutout slot. The opposite side has two small rectangular cutouts for insertion of a small tool that would unlock the bank.
