Burroughs calculator. A Burroughs Class 5 desk calculator with 118 keys, capable of sums of up to fourteen digits. The body is black-painted metal with a slanted top and a green plate underneath the keys. The keys are each one inch high and are capped with black or off-white plastic numbered keys, arranged in similarly colored columns. Moving from right to left, the keys correspond to increasing multiples of ten. From the bottom to the top they are the digits 1 to 9. The machine also has a black unlabeled key at the top left corner of its keyboard and a crank on its right side. Below the keyboard is display consisting of fourteen oval shaped windows behind which are numbered drums. Above the display is a bar supporting four sliding arrow-shaped markers. "Burroughs Calculator" is painted in gold on the front, and "Burroughs, this machine is protected by U.S. and foreign patents" is on its rear. It's supported upon four feet with rubber bottoms, that are taller in the back to slant the machine toward its user. "5-739139" stamped on small metal tag on underside.
