Camera, Motion Picture

One high speed 16 mm motion picture camera used for automobile crash testing. The ruggedized camera has a heavyweight machined aluminum body with aluminum and steel parts. It has a removable viewing lens and a removable 16 mm film magazine which attach to the left side of the camera body. Two plug fittings and a film winding knob are located on the right side of the body. Also on the right side is a blue manufacturer's label with silver-colored text that reads "Photo-Sonics, Inc., Burbank, California, U.S.A." as well as "Model No. 16MM-1B; Serial No. 1509," and "Distributed By Instrumentation Marketing Corp., Burbank, Calif." Stamped text on the outside barrel of the front lens reads "Photosonics Ser. No. 315," and "76 mm f/1.9 Ruggedized Cine Paragon, Made by Ilex Optical Co., Rochester, N.Y." Red hand-painted text on the camera body shows the number, "68," with "66" on the removable lens, and "6" on the removable film magazine.
