Cart, Push

"White Wing" push cart used by the Detroit Department of Public Works's Sanitation Division. The cart consists of a white can, with two 46 inch wheels, and a black wooden handle. Lettering on front of cart reads, "364-DPW-Sanitation Division."

This style of cart was nicknamed the "White Wing" cart and used by White Winged Brigade to clean city streets, beginning around 1898, The bucket was used to hold garbage and other waste that was picked up from the street by the brigade.
