Then and Now, or a glimpse into the kaleidoscope of Reform

Mounted original artwork for a two-panel political cartoon by Fred C. Nash in ink over pencil, entitled "Then and Now, or a glimpse into the kaleidoscope of Reform." In the first panel Hazen S. Pingree, with a sword at his side, is urged to battle a dragon representing the Detroit United Railway by his secretary Robert S. Oakman, with the words, "Go on Hazen, slay the monster." In the second panel Oakman stands behind the monster saying, "Sic'em tige, I'm with you." as the beast stares down a small figure in a bowler hat representing "The People." The notes, "2 cols," and "5 1/4 deep" are written in the right border. The cartoon is mounted on linen.
