Carving

One hand carved wooden figure of a Hooded Merganser duck. The carving is made of a lightweight, medium-grained wood and shows detailed sculpting and shaping. It has flat tail feathers, a red crest on its turned head, and has been finished with red/brown/white paint. Its eyes are made of small circular black plastic discs with a convex outer surface and have been attached on each side of the head. The maker has carved/woodburned his insignia, "Wooden Birds," and name, "John Elliott," on the underside.
