Casserole

One casserole dish and cover from the tugboat, Port Alfred, of Saguenay Terminals, Ltd., of Montreal, Quebec. The oval-shaped dish is made of heavyweight, glazed china of a bone/ivory color. The dish has a rounded top edge, vertical sides that have a faint basket weave pattern, small rounded handles on the ends, and a removable lid. The flat, dome-shaped lid has a truncated top that has an oval-shaped depression at the center with a straight handle. A short lip along the underside, outer edge of the cover is designed to fit the top edge of the dish. Matching narrow, dark green and black stripes encircle the outside top edge of the cover and the outside top edge of the dish. Short, narrow black stripes are painted on the tops of the cover and dish handles for additional decoration. Matching green images of the company flag are stamped on the top surface of the cover and on the side of the dish at the center. The underside of the casserole dish is stamped with green text that reads "Made Expressly for Saguenay Terminals, Ltd.," and "Vitreous Ironstone, Dunn Bennett & Co., Ltd., Burslem. Made in England."
