Certificate, Gift

One booklet of gift certificates from the Hughes-Hatcher-Suffrin store in Detroit. The rectangular booklet, number "BK-85," has a heavyweight tan paper front cover, a cardboard bottom cover, and black tape on the stapled spine. It contains 25 tear-off certificates (with stubs and underlying yellow carbon copy pages) that have been printed in red, black, and green text on white paper that are numbered 24326 through 24350. Each certificate and accompanying stub have blank lines for the date, amount, recipient's name, sender's name, and authorized signature. The stub and copy would be retained by the merchant for accounting purposes, the original certificate would go to the recipient, and the certificate carbon copy would be retained by the sender as a receipt. Two sheets of carbon paper are located at the back of the booklet.
