Cup, Demitasse

One demitasse cup and saucer from a dining room of one passenger ferries of the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway Train/Ferry Service. Both pieces are made of pale yellow glazed china. The cup has gently curved sides that taper to form a narrow, rounded bottom. It has a plain rim and a plain handle with a gold-colored stripe on the outside. A gold-colored band encircles the outside rim of the cup and narrow gold-colored stripes are located on the inside rim and outside base. A multi-color, oval-shaped image of George Washington is stamped on one side of the cup. The saucer has a plain, slightly curved rim with a rounded outer edge. A gold-colored band encircles the top surface of the saucer along the outer edge and a narrow gold-colored stripe encircles the inner edge at the cup base. The underside of the cup is stamped with green text that reads "O.P. Co. [Onondaga Pottery Company], Syracuse China." The underside of the saucer is stamped with a scroll logo and green text that reads "Old Ivory, Syracuse China" and "O.P. Co., Made in America." A small black, oval-shaped stamp shows "CC2."
