Dress

One lady's two-piece silk dress. The dress is made of raspberry-colored silk with a lattice pattern of black velvet. It has a fitted and boned bodice, a high standing collar of punto in aria lace, pleated flange shoulders, puffed sleeves with lace below the wrists, hook/eye closures at the front, and V-shaped panels of matching lace at the front and back. A waistband of plain draped silk includes rosettes at the front and back. The full, gored skirt is lined with taffeta, has a small bustle in back, and has alternating sections of plain silk and silk with black ribbon lattice. The plain sections are hand tucked. The dress includes a separate long piece of matching gathered ninon. Possibly, the ninon was intended to be used as a ruffle at the hem or as an added decoration at the waist.

Note: Worn by Mrs. Charles Worcester (?) of Chicago.
