Extinguisher, Fire
One hand-pump fire extinguisher for use aboard hydroplanes. The extinguisher (type B-C) has a cylindrical body that is made of brass. The top end has a metal, T-shaped handle with a simple turn-lock flange at the base. To operate, the handle must be turned 90 degrees which unlocks it and allows the user to pull it upward in order to pump the contents (carbon tetrachloride). The lower end of the extinguisher is slightly rounded and has a small hole for spraying the extinguisher contents. A brass plate on the side of the extinguisher shows "Safety Phlare Pump" and "Quick Aid General Fire Guard Model 85-HD." The extinguisher (No. D620064) was manufactured by the General Detroit Corporation and was approved by Underwriters' Laboratories.
