Handle, Door

One door handle assembly from the J. L. Hudson Company downtown store (Woodward Avenue entrance). The assembly consists of two large, vertical oval-shaped handles that are joined together by two cylindrically-shaped mounting brackets. Each bracket has two set screws at the bottom which would allow the handles to be attached to a plate glass door. The exterior handle has a slight convex shape and was designed for users to pull the door open to enter. The interior handle is flat and was designed to act as a push plate for users to push the door outward to exit. The steel handles have a brushed nickel finish with the letters, "JLH," shown in a decorative script.
