Hat

One peaked hat worn by a marine engineering officer. The hat has a khaki fabric top, a black headband with a black vinyl strap across the front, and a black vinyl visor. The strap ends are attached at brass buttons that are located on the left and right sides of the hat. The front of the hat has an oval-shaped, embroidered red star and "C" emblem of the Columbia Transportation Division of the Oglebay Norton Company. The title, "1st Asst. Engr.," is shown in gold-colored embroidered text beneath the emblem. A clear plastic label on the inside top of the hat shows "Bancroft Military Caps - Makers of Fine Caps for Over 50 Years, Framingham, Massachusetts." Gold-colored text on the inside headband reads "Bancroft's Zephyr, Reg. U.S. Pat. Office."
