Hat

One peaked hat worn by a marine deck officer. The hat has a white cloth top, a black headband with a gold-colored strap across the front, and a black vinyl visor. The strap ends are attached at brass buttons that are located on the left and right sides of the hat. The front of the hat has a decorative embroidered emblem that shows the "USS" flag of the United States Steel Corporation steamship fleet. The word, "Mate," is shown in gold-colored embroidered text over the emblem. A clear plastic label on the inside top of the hat shows "Bancroft Military Caps - Makers of Fine Caps for Over 50 Years, Framingham, Massachusetts." The adjacent identification tag is blank.
