Holder, Pencil

One souvenir pencil holder from the passenger steamship, SS SOUTH AMERICAN, of the Chicago, Duluth & Georgian Bay Transit Company. The cylindrically-shaped holder is made of cardboard with a black plastic base and a chrome-plated steel top that has openings for 8 pens/pencils along the perimeter. A single large circular opening is located at the center of the steel top. One side of the cylinder has a color photographic image of the SS SOUTH AMERICAN which shows a port side view of the ship. The other side has a thin black plastic cover with silver-colored text that reads Pens 'N Pencils." A thin, circular piece of cork is located on the inside bottom of the holder. No manufacturer's name or marks are shown.
