Lathe, Record

One record lathe made by the Presto Recording Corporation. The lathe cutting arm, a metal turntable, and a player arm are all mounted on top of a wood cabinet that has been painted blue and gray in a two-tone color design. A chrome steel trim strip is located around the sides of the cabinet at the top edge. The lathe arm has various adjustment knobs and levers and rests on a circular metal support at the side. In order to cut a master phonograph record, the arm lifts off of the metal support and rotates so that is can be placed over the center spindle on the turntable. Three control switches are located in a metal cover plate at the top front corner of the cabinet in order to set the turntable speed of 33, 45, or 78 rpm. Near the opposite corner, three black plastic control knobs are located above a metal cover plate that is stamped "General Electric" and "Record Filter." Additional text is located beside each control knob to mark various settings. An oval-shaped metal plate on the front of the cabinet has red text that reads "Presto." A removable panel on the lower front area of the cabinet allows access to the turntable motor and other mechanical/electrical parts. A circular metal plate inside the cabinet reads "Presto Recording Corp., 33 1/3, 78.26, Type 66G, Serial No. 4314, Made in U.S.A." An oval shaped brass tag on the back of the cabinet has black text that reads "Property of Ford Motor Co., P 444092." A power cord and two audio connection cables are also located at the back of the cabinet.
