One automobile license plate. The rectangular plate is made of a thin steel sheet that has been covered with two pieces of black leather. The leather pieces have been sewn together along the edges. Aluminum figures showing the number, "939," have been bonded to the leather on the front side of the plate. A small brass plate at the center bottom edge shows "Detroit Automobile License, Made By Automobile Equipment Co., Detroit, Mich."
