Medal, Commemorative

1 - Commemorative medal worn by Spanish-American War veteran, Joseph Hoffman. The medal has a red and blue vertically-striped ribbon at the top with a hanging circular brass medal. The medal shows a palm tree at the center with a lamp and balance scale in the background. Obverse: raised text along the perimeter: "Philippine Insurrection 1899", reverse side of the medal shows an image of an eagle standing over crossed rifles and flags as well as raised text: "United States of America For Service." Thirteen stars are shown along the lower border.
