One Detroit 250th Anniversary medal. The circular bronze medal shows a view of the Detroit skyline on the obverse with an inset view of Fort Pontchartrain. Text along the perimeter reads "Detroit's 250th Birthday Festival, 1951" and Past-Present-Future." The reverse shows an image of Cadillac and a company of soldiers landing at the shoreline where three Native Americans are seated. Text along the perimeter reads "Antoine De LaMothe Cadillac Founder of Detroit" and "250th Anniversary, 1951." The artist's name, "Rene P. Chambellan," is shown in the lower right area of the image. Stamped text along the edge of the medal shows "Medallic Art Co., N.Y." and "Bronze." The medal is contained in a small tan cardboard box which includes a bi-fold brochure that gives a brief history of the founding of the city as well as a description of the medal design.
