One commemorative medal from the Friends of the Detroit Public Library that was presented to Mrs. Henry D. (Helen) Brown. The circular bronze medal has shows text on the obverse that reads "Friends of the Detroit Public Library Incorporated, 1942" along the perimeter. Raised and engraved text at the center reads "Honoring Mrs. Henry D. Brown, Twenty-Five Year Member." The reverse shows a decorative relief design with the letters, "FDPL," at the center. Text along the perimeter shows a continuous message that reads "Friends Are for Libraries Are for Books Are for People Are for Friends." The edge of the medal has a brushed finish.
