Medal, Commemorative

One commemorative medallion which was issued to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Minnesota Atlantic Transit Company. The circular medallion is made of two circular pieces of embossed brass sheets which have been pressed together along the outer edges over a circular piece of steel or iron. The slightly dome-shaped obverse shows a raised image at the center that depicts port side bow views of a row of five freighters with the names (left to right): Ace, King, Queen, Jack, Ten. Raised text beneath the image reads "The Poker Fleet." Additional raised text near the outer edges of the medallion reads "Minnesota Atlantic Transit Company" and "Fifteenth Anniversary." The reverse has a small circular raised image of a freighter with text that reads "The Poker Fleet" and "Ace, King, Queen, Jack, Ten." A second small circular raised image shows the company flag with the lettering, "MAT Line." Raised text near the bottom reads "1922 - 1937" and "We Grow Only As We Serve." Both sides have a brushed finish. No manufacturer's name or marks are shown.
