1 - Commemorative medal worn by United Spanish War Veteran (USWV), Joseph Hoffman. The medal has a rectangular brass top that has a shoreline scene and embossed text: "Traverse City, Mich. June 11-12-13-14 1939", the top section also includes a paper name tag insert with typewritten text: "Joseph Hoffman", a heart-shaped brass medal hangs beneath from a silk red and yellow vertically striped ribbon, the heart-shaped medal has text along the perimeter: "The Heart of Nature's Playground 36th Annual Encampment." Text in a cross at the center shows "USWV., Philippine Islands, Cuba, Porto Rico, U.S.A., 1939." A shoreline scene can be seen in the background.
