The waterline is painted black and the underside area of the hull (below the waterline) is painted gold. The model is mounted on a rectangular wood base that has been finished with lacquer or varnish. This base has been mounted on a larger rectangular wood base that has been finished with brown stain and lacquer or varnish around the exterior border. The interior area is covered with green felt. A removable glass case fits into a slot that is located between the outer edge of the green felt and the inner edge of the wood border.
