Model, Architect's
One architectural model of the Dossin Great Lakes Museum on Belle Isle. The model is constructed on a rectangular sheet of 1/4" thick masonite board on which the proposed museum building has been placed including an adjacent proposed lagoon and dock, landscape features, sidewalks, and a parking lot. Existing roads and cars on Belle Isle are also shown as well as the Detroit River. The model pieces are made of wood and heavy paper. The pieces and the masonite board have all been painted or colored appropriately in order to give a realistic look to the model. A white label is located near a corner of the board and has black text that shows "William Edward Kapp, Architect F.A.I.A, Detroit."
The model includes two alternate building options that are removable. One option includes a rectangular-shaped building that could extend off the front end of the main museum building, parallel to the road. A second option includes an L-shaped building that would enclose the reflecting pool area and create a courtyard.
