Needlepoint
Needlepoint interpretation of the flag of the City of Detroit, made by Helen Coutts. Parts of the city seal in the center are done in petit point. The piece is backed with plush and edged on the verso with white grosgrain ribbon. A label sewn on the verso reads, "Specially handmade and designed by Helen Coutts." Coutts was a retired English teacher from Redford High School in Detroit, and a member of the Detroit Historical Society Guild.
