Overcoat

One uniform overcoat worn by Detroit Police officer, Joseph A. Troyanek. The double-breasted overcoat is made of heavy dark blue wool fabric and is partially-lined with black satin acetate. It has six brass buttons on the front. Two grommet-reinforced holes are located on the left breast to allow for attachment of a badge. The overcoat has pockets on each side and a center vent at the back. A waistband with two brass buttons is also located on the back just above the vent. The side pockets have openings on the inside which allow the wearer to access pants pockets. Each cuff has a double-stitched band and two brass buttons. All of the overcoat buttons are embossed with the police department emblem and the words, "Detroit Police." The overcoat has two interior pockets and one manufacturer's label that shows "Hirsch Tyler Company Uniforms, 10th & Berks Sts., Philadelphia, Penna." and a retailer's label that shows "Guaranteed, Oakes Metropolitan Beaver. Cary, Deuscher & Dennis, Sole Agents."
