The Street was Never the Same Again
Watercolor painting on illustration board; white frame; shows Henry Ford driving a 1903 Model A on a typical Detroit brick street; forty-one people are watching Mr. Ford from various windows, roof tops, lamp poles, and along the street, with several children chasing behind the car; a horse at the right of the picture is rearing back frightened by the car. May also contain charcoal or ink. Originally 1 of a set of 5, done as part of Ford's 50th anniversary celebration. Two remain in the Ford archives and it is thought that the other 2 burnt in the fire that destroyed the Ford Rotunda. They were issued as prints and as a calendar.
