Pennant

One pennant from the Republican National Convention in Detroit in July, 1980. The triangular pennant is made of white felt and designed so that the pointed end hangs down. The top edge is printed with a band of white stars on a blue background. Beneath the band of stars are the letters "GOP," in red and white vertical stripes with blue edging. At the center of the banner, there is a large gray/black/white image of the head of an elephant. A red circle at the bottom has white text that reads "Detroit, Mich." Handwritten pen text on the back of the pennant reads "Property of Jim Hellmich, 550 Lakeland, Grosse Pointe, MI. 886-7375."
