Plate, Commemorative
One commemorative plate of the opening of the "St. Lawrence Seaway and Power Project" in 1959. The round plate is made of glazed white china. It has a slightly-curved and upturned rim. Five oval-shaped, multi-color scenes of the project are evenly-spaced along the rim perimeter with short captions. Decorative multi-color floral patterns are located between each scene. A multi-color drawing of the bulk carrier freighter, SS Carol Lake, is shown entering a lock at the center of the plate. Black printed text beneath the drawing reads "St. Lawrence Seaway and Power Project, Eisenhower Lock." The underside of the plate is stamped with a crossed U.S./Canada flags logo and black text that reads "The St. Lawrence Seaway and Power Project," and "Old English Staffordshire Ware." Two small logos are also shown with additional black text that reads "Adams, Estd. 1657, England," and "Jonron, England," as well as "Made in Staffordshire, England" and" Imported Exclusively for the Seaway Shops, Massena, N.Y., Edward J.
