Plate, Dinner
One dinner plate from the grand opening of the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club (GPYC) in 1929. The round plate is made of white china and has a flat rim. The rim is covered with a decorative pattern of small white crosses on a dark red background that includes black and yellow border lines. A gold-colored filigree pattern is located in a narrow band along the outer rim with a wider band located along the curved surface just inside the rim. Six red, white, blue, and yellow decorative insets (three of one design and three of another) are located in an alternating pattern at equal intervals along the flat rim. A gold-colored "GPYC" burgee is shown at the center of the plate. A black and gold-colored label on the underside shows "Black Knight" along with black text that reads "Registered U.S.A., Selb, Bavaria."
