Platter

One large serving platter from the dining room of the sidewheel passenger steamship, SS Southern Michigan, of the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway. The octagonal-shaped platter is made of heavyweight white glazed ironstone china. It has a flat, upturned rim with a rounded and thickened outer edge, and a flat bottom. A blue image that depicts a port side view of a sidewheel steamship is shown at the center of platter along with blue text that reads "Southern Michigan." The underside is stamped with a crown/ribbon logo and blue text that reads "F. Morley & Co., Real Stone China," and "W. H. Glenny, Importer, 52 & 166 Main St., Buffalo." Additional stamped text reads "Real Ironstone China."
