Popper, Corn

Corn popper patent model from the U.S. Patent Office. The corn popper is made from a hammered tin or other type of metal. Two tin frames hold a metal mesh basket with a hinged lid. Fused thin wire serves as the handle, and the basket is closed with a curved thin piece of wire that holds the top down, then flexes to allow it to open. No longer attached but part of this model is an original patent tag that reads, "92,939 / Wm. F. Collier / Corn Popper / July 27, 1869 / 1869."
