Radio

One receiving radio set (a): made by Grebe, Type CR-8. Serial no. 480. Wooden case with hinged lid, possibly fumed oak. Front panel made of slate with controls and posts for headset and antenna. This model required external batteries and headset.

Two-tube amplifier (b) that would have been used with the receiving set (a). The amplifier was made by Grebe and with the manufacturer's information: "1156 / Type Rork / Made by Grebe Radio Co. / Richmond Hill, N.Y." The amplifier has a black slate front to a dark wooden box. The box may have been "fumed", or varnished by ammonia to create a dark look.
