Ring, Life
One life ring from the Boblo Island passenger ferry, SS COLUMBIA. The ring is made of a dense white plastic foam material (expanded polystyrene foam) and has a black polypropylene line that has been tied at four evenly-spaced eye locations along the perimeter of the ring in order to form four large grab loops. Black painted stencil text on one side of the ring reads "COLUMBIA, DETROIT." A silver-colored adhesive label on the opposite side has black text that reads "Ring Buoy, Listed Commercial Ring Buoy, Issue No. A-0800," and also gives instructions for use. Additional text reads "U.S.C.G. Approval No. 160.050/112/0, EPS Buoyant Material Provides a Minimum Buoyant Force of 32 Lbs.," and "Model A-30, Lot No. 84302, US Pat. 4017927" as well as "Coated Marine Products, Inc., Waukegan, IL 60085."
