Sculpture

Spring Song II

One bronze sculpture of a young woman. The brown metal sculpture has a green patina and a smooth finish. It shows the nude figure of a young woman who is standing on the tips of her toes on the back of a turtle. She is leaning forward slightly as if bracing herself against a gentle breeze which has also caused her long hair to stream outward behind her head. Her arms are bent and raised in front, and her hands are lightly touching each other as she cradles a butterfly on her fingertips. Some flowers in her hair have been lightly painted in order to add color. The sculpture includes a circular bronze base with a decorative edge that has been mounted on a larger diameter base of black painted wood and dark green marble. The artist has signed his name, "Chesney," and "3/12" on the back edge of the bronze base. Also, an engraved brass plate on the front of the black wood section of the base reads "Spring Song II, Chesney."
