One enamelled steel sign from the Grinnell Company store in downtown Detroit. The rectangular sign has white enamel text on a blue enamel background that shows "Grinnell Sprinkler System Valve No. 12-1M" and "Keep Open, Grinnell Company, Inc., Inspection and Service Department." Black text on a yellow background shows valve number "12-1M" and "S. Sect. 1st Mezz., Newcomb-Endicott Bldg." A steel chain is bolted at the top corners of the sign in order to allow it to be hung from the noted valve. Several holes are located along each edge of the sign to provide various attachment points. The back of the sign has a white enamel finish.
