Souvenir

One souvenir cup from the passenger steamship, SS City of Cleveland, of the Detroit and Cleveland Navigation Company (D&C Line). The miniature demitasse cup is made of white glazed china that has been painted cobalt blue on the exterior. It has a cylindrical body with four vertical indentations, a flared top rim, a small handle on one side with a scrollwork design, and a decorative flat bottom. A circular, multi-color image is printed on one side of the cup that depicts a port side bow view of the SS City of Cleveland underway in fair weather. Narrow gold-colored stripes are painted on the handle and around the printed image. Black text beneath the image reads "The New D&C Steamer, City of Cleveland." A black ink stamp on the bottom of the cup reads "Germany."
