Souvenir

One souvenir vase from the passenger steamship, SS North West, of the Northern Steamship Company. The small vase is made of white glazed china that has been painted cobalt blue and pale yellow on one of the exterior sides. It has a flat, basket-shaped body with decorative curved top edges, a center handle, and a decorative base with four small feet. A circular black and white image of the steamship and a bridge is printed at the center of the painted side of the vase. Black printed text beneath the image reads "Steamer North West Entering Duluth Harbor, Duluth, Minn." Narrow gold-colored stripes and floral patterns provide additional decoration on the painted side. The unpainted side has a raised leaf/berry design. The number, "6508," is stamped on the underside of the base, but no manufacturer's name is shown.
