Souvenir

One souvenir vase from the ship locks at Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. The small urn-shaped vase is made of white glazed china that has a faint blue tint and a horizontal cobalt blue band beneath the top rim and at the base. It has a flared top rim with a scalloped edge, a tall urn-shaped body, and a plain rounded base. A circular, multi-color image of a steamship in the locks is printed at the center of one side. Black printed text beneath the image reads "Locks, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario." Narrow gold-colored stripes encircle the vase at the top rim edge, the upper/lower edges of the upper cobalt band, and the upper edge of the lower cobalt band. The number, "8859," is stamped on the underside of the base beside a red ink stamp that reads "Made in Germany."
