Souvenir

One souvenir miniature mug from the passenger steamship, SS OSSIFRAGE, of the Chatham Navigation Company. The mug is made of white glazed china. It is cylindrical in shape with vertical sides, a top edge and base that are flared outward slightly, and a decorative rounded handle on the side. Narrow gold-colored stripes are painted along the top edge, base, and handle. A narrow light iridescent blue horizontal band with gold-colored edge stripes is located beneath the top edge of the mug. Decorative gold-colored leaf/floral designs are painted beneath the band on opposite sides. At a break in the band on the side of the mug opposite the handle, a multi-color image is printed which depicts the steamship underway on the Thames River. Black text beneath the image reads "Steamer Ossifrage, Chatham-Detroit." The number "278," is stamped on the underside of the mug along with black text that reads "Made in Germany."
