Souvenir

One souvenir plate from the whaleback passenger steamship, SS CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS, of the Goodrich Transit Company. The round plate is made of glazed white china. It has a curved rim and gently-curved bottom. The outside edge of the rim has a narrow gold-colored stripe and the rim top surface is painted with a decorative gold-colored leaf/floral pattern. A multi-color drawing at the center of the plate shows a port side view of the steamship underway in fair weather. Black text beneath the drawing reads "S.S. CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS, Chicago-Milwaukee Route." The underside of the plate is stamped with a fleur de lis logo and black text that reads "Sèvres."
