Souvenir
One small souvenir dish from the ship locks in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. The dish is made of thin white glazed china that has been painted dark cobalt blue. It is shaped like a fish with the head, tail, upper and lower fins all curved slightly upward to form a dish. A narrow gold-colored stripe is painted along the entire outer edge. Also, a narrow, oval-shaped, gold-colored stripe is painted at the center and forms a frame around a multi-color drawing of a steamship in the locks. Black text beneath the image reads "Str. North West Passing Down Through Lock, Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., Canada." The underside is stamped with black text that reads "Germany."
