Souvenir

One small souvenir plate from the passenger steamship, SS City of Cleveland, of the Detroit and Cleveland Navigation Company (D&C Line). The dish is made of thin white glazed china. It has a flat, upturned rim that has a filigree cutout design and a scalloped edge. A blue satin ribbon is interwoven through the cutouts on the rim. The scalloped edge is painted gold and a narrow gold stripe encircles the plate along the inner edge of the rim. A multi-color drawing at the center of the plate shows a port side bow view of the steamship underway in fair weather. Black text beneath the image reads "Steamer City of Cleveland, D&C Line." Black printed text on the plate underside reads "Made in Germany."
